One More Reagan Photo …

Reagan at Plane 4 _ RTP _ 2 Sept 15_SFW

It clearly looks that Reagan is enjoying himself as he works the crowd in Pensacola.  Look at the little boy that is stretching his hand out to Reagan … I am sure that Reagan shook it and I bet that kid did not wash his hand for a week.  I still have a few more of these that I will post later.  If anyone has any idea who this kid is, let me know.  Just email me who you think or know it is and I will give him one of these photos for his scrapbook.  I am sure that this kid ( I called him little Johnny in an earlier post ) is upset with our Iranian Nuclear Arms ” Deal “.  Thanks again for looking and please check back … Frank

PS – If anyone recognizes any of these people in any of these Reagan photos, please let me know. Thanks … 28 Oct 15

Ronald Reagan Aboard Leadership 80 …

Reagan at Plane_Image Printed_11_WIP 3_7 May 15 copy_ SFW

In September 1980, Ronald Reagan made a stop at the Pensacola Regional Airport aboard Leadership 80.   I have posted a few images earlier of Reagan speaking at the podium speaking, but I had not posted any of boarding the plane to leave.  The reason was that I could not find the negatives.  Until yesterday.  I ran across them looking for some other negatives that I had misplaced.  It is only about 25 more negatives and they are nothing earth shattering … no Pulitzer Prize winners.  However, he still became President of the United States and he was in Pensacola, so that has to amount for something.  Right?  I cleaned these two negatives up and posted them as a teaser.  I know that there are a lot of people who loved him and these show him in a good mood and  to me, very favorable.  It is going to take me a while to get them all cleaned-up and ready to post.  Here is one more of the crowd around the plane …

Crowd at Reagan Plan 1 _ RTP 2_ 7 May 15 _ SFW

I have enough images to get several posts out of all of the negatives and I hope to hear from some people that were there.  Not very many comments were received from the other post, so I am hoping that these will get a better response.  I am also going to post something on my other site and maybe that might get some more responses.  I do not believe that I did that with the other post.  It is going be a little before I get around to getting them ready to post, so please be patient.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Twelfth Avenue Fire …

Studio Fire 18 _ RTP _SFW

Over at the blog that I have about my father’s photography, I posted about the fire on 12th Avenue that destroyed the block that his studio was in back in 1975.  There are somewhere between 15 and 20 photos that I have collected  about the fire.  I very seldom have a post that links over to his site because I try to keep his work and mine separated.  I have a link to his site on the side bar, but a lot of people that go to either site do not relate the two.  If anyone happened to be there when 12th Avenue burned and wants to comment, please go right ahead … I am interested in all comments.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

IMG_2931 Candid Girls _ Color Balanced_SFW

Several weeks ago Pensacola Catholic High School had their Senior Prom down at the Pensacola Museum of Commerce ( I still think of it as The Transportation Museum ) and I went down to take a few photos of the King and Queen.  I was early for the walk-out and made some random photos of the kids dancing and having fun.  Here are a few random images and several of the king and queen …

Sports Cars …

leave a comment »

Back in the early 1980’s, I had a friend that was always buying and selling sports cars, boats, etc, etc … about the only thing of his that I never photographed were planes and that is not to say that he did not have any.  I ran across this print and contact sheet when I was looking for something else.  I wish that I could put my hands on the negatives and the rest of his files, but I must have lost those when Hurricane Ivan destroyed the building that I was storing a lot of negatives and prints in. The contact sheet shows a Ferrari, Pantera  and Aston Martin out front of his house over on Pensacola Beach …

Deans Cars _ RTP _ SFW

People talk today about shooting lots of images, but I used to burn up film … I would usually shoot a roll on each sequence of images.  I processed and printed all of my film and I was fairly careful, but I could always manage to end up with dust / scratches on some of my frames.  So, I always tended to shoot more than just a frame or two on a set-up.  Next is an 8×10 of the Pantera in this photo.  Back in the the 1970’s, you could by a Pantera new from a Lincoln-Mercury dealer for a little over  ten thousand dollars.  I knew several people who had gone out to the local Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Pensacola, Astro, and purchased Panteras.  Here is one photographed out at NAS Pensacola …

Pantera _ RTP _ 3 Mar 15 _ SFW

If anyone wants to share their Pantera memories here, please feel free, but remember that this is a family oriented ( sort-of ) blog, so try to keep it clean.  Here is a Wikipedia link to the history of the car.  Feel free to Google ” Panteras for sale ” to see what they sell for now, but I have to warn you … you had better be sitting down when the prices pop up.  I have some more miscellaneous mess that I will be putting up in the next few days, so please check back.  Thanks for looking ,,, Frank

Christmas Lights at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Bellview …

Main Street Exterior Yes _ Sat _ 25 Nov 14 _ SFW

How many of you out there can remember when Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Bellview used to decorate with all of the lights for the holidays?  I went out there many times to make photos for Father Licari and then Father Gray.  This is the only image that I can put my hands on out of all the hundreds that I had taken out there through the years.  I know that they are around here somewhere and I will have to keep on looking.  The above shot was looking down Main Street where the Round-Up was held and you see the “Grandview Hotel ” at the end of the street.  If I run across some of the interior of the church, I will post them … it was really a site to see!  Thanks for looking and I hope that everyone will have a safe and happy Thanksgiving … Frank

An Afternoon At Pensacola Beach …

IMG_3337 Boy in Water_ RTP _Cropped_2B_Liq _SFW

This post is just some miscellaneous images that I found on a disc that I had burned back in 2005.  It started off as a commentary / rant to other photographers about being careful when backing up their images on portable hard drives, but I am still thinking about how to write it.  So, I just decided to post these images that I found on a CD that I burned back in August of 2005.  They are not great images by any means, but they show what you can create out of just some average images.  The one above is just a kid standing in the water with a life jacket on.  The texture of the water and the sand make this image interesting … obviously the life jacket on the young boy makes his shape look odd, but it is what it is. However, I did try to smooth out the lines with the liquify tool in Photoshop and I think that the life-preserver does not look as bulky as before.  The next one is of an oriental lady sitting on a bench at the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier …

China Woman_ Lucis_4x6 _ SFW

Running this image through the Lucis Art Filter really brings out the texture of the wooden bench, the pattern in her blouse, the texture of her straw hat and the water in the background.  Below is the original image, sort of, that I made …

IMG_3311 Lady Fishing 1 _ SFW

As you can see it is nothing special, but with some cropping and some adjustments, you can turn an average looking image into something that is more visually interesting and appealing.  Below is one more of people on the beach.  Nothing great either, but the late afternoon sun is what really creates the photo …

IMG_3317 People at Beach _ RTP_SFW

Here is another view of the beach of the beach at sunset.  This last image is one of a little girl at the water’s edge shot from above.  I altered the colors to give the sand a blue tint, just to make the image more interesting …

IMG_3352 Blue Kid on Beach _ Lucis_RTP_4x5 _SFW

I have a few more posts almost ready to go from events that I shot a month or two ago, so please check back and please let me hear from you.  When I have time to sit and write, I will tell you about the problem that I have with my back-up hard drives.  It has been extremely frustrating because I have eight or nine years worth of images backed-up on these hard-drives.  Stay safe and please check back … Frank
