A Few More From Pensacola Beach This Past Week …

IMG_1974 Pano From Red Fish Blue Fish_RTP_28 Sept 15 _SFW

The above panorama is from a restaurant out on Pensacola Beach – Red Fish Blue Fish – that we had lunch at this past Friday.  The food, service and the food were great and we really enjoyed ourselves.  You look out over the Sound and the place is all open, which I like.  All of these photos, by the way, were taken with my iPhone.  However, they were worked up in Photoshop before I posted them.  On my previous post, I included a panorama that I had taken from our room on the fourth floor at the Hilton located right on the Gulf … it does not get much better than this!  This is an image that Jenna had taken on her iPhone of three Coast Guard helicopters hovering out of the Gulf in front of the Hilton.  You do not really get to see much, but you can make out the helicopters hovering over the Gulf by the rotor wash on the water …

Now, here are a several of Payton and one of Jenna and Payton down at Joe Patti’s Seafood.  The first is Payton with a iPhone playing games, which is what she seems to be doing 75% of the time these days …

The last is just one taken off of the balcony looking at the beach … nothing great, but pretty.

Texas Windmill …

IMG_2772 Texas Windmill_RTP 2 Best BW_1 May 15 _5x5_SFW 2

I spotted this windmill on the way to Carlsbad New Mexico out of Fort Stockton Texas on I-10.  I kept running across the image for years and it never really did much for me, until I just decided to do something with the image.  Now as I look at it, I am surprised how much I like the image.  If you have ever been out in west Texas and you look out over the horizon, all you see for miles and miles is nothing.  So when you finally come across something, anything for that matter, you want to get out of the car to stretch your legs and take a photo of whatever is in front of you.  I will have to find the image of this windmill and post it to give you a better idea of what I am talking about.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Old Lady on Horseback with Joel BG _ SFW

I worked this image up differently back in February.  I liked what I had done with the image, but I wanted to change the framing and the coloring just to give another feeling to the image.  My father made the original on Kodachrome back on a trip out West we took to visit his sister in Colorado.  I was only four or five when we took the trip, so I do not remember much about any of this.  I still am not finished with it though, so you will set it again in months to come.  I still cannot get over this lady and her son traveling across this desert ( for lack of any other description ) … not a tree, house, other individuals, water, etc, etc in site.  Could you picture seeing something like this today?  I am sure that there are a few areas like this in some parts of the West, but they are probably few and far between.  Here is the one that I initially created …

IMG_9686 Home in Snow 1 _ RTP _ BW 2 _ SFW

Doesn’t this just want to make you move to South Dakota?  Not me … even though it looks like it might be fun for a few days.  Notice the animals way in the distance.  At least if they get out, it is not like they are going to get out on the highway and get hit or cause a wreck.  Next is one more of an old house in Charleston.  This was down several blocks from where we were staying … I still have a lot of variations of this place …

I very seldom use frames on my images and I have a accumulated a lot of them, along with textures, I have been seeing what I can come up that adds something a little different to these images.  The first image was taken by my friend Bud Lovoy and I made the second.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

IMG_9441 Lonely Road _ RTP _ 14 Feb 15 _ SFW

I could not decide if I should call this ” Aren’t You Glad That You Live In Florida ” or ” The Lonely Road Home ” and I decided on the lonely road theme.  Notice how the ice on the windshield really makes the photo, otherwise it would just be some out of focus car lights on a miserable road out in the middle of no where.  The lights were smaller and I enlarged them so they would be more interesting.  I believe this was Wyoming, not exactly sure.  I have some more from Spain that I am going to post in the next day or so.  Thanks for looking and let me know what you think …. Tuba City Arizona …

IMG_2606 Clouds _ Tuba City AZ _ RTP_SFW

This was taken outside of Tuba City Arizona and it is more of an optical illusion more than anything else and besides I think that the clouds look interesting.  The hill was in the foreground, but the clouds were way off in the distance.  Using a telephoto lens that compresses the image and makes the clouds look as if they are hovering  a hundred feet or so above the hill.  All that is missing a group of Indians on horseback to complete the image …. I will see if I can come up with something to enhance this image in the future.  Anyone out there ever been to Tuba City Arizona?  That is what I thought … no one.  I believe it  is the start of some Indian Nation, but I do not know which one.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

IMG_7413 Memphis Store Front _ RTP_SFW

This is a store front in downtown Memphis … there is a sign on the window that reads ” Strange Cargo “, so I do not know if that is the name of the store or if it is a line of clothing or whatever that sell in this shop, but it is what I named this photo.  I regret the fact that I did not wonder on in and check it out since it looks like my kind of place … notice that I said my kind of place and not Pam’s kind of place.  I have another that I am going to throw up from Sam Phillips’ Sun Records …

IMG_7498 Sun Wall _ RTP_ 4x6 10 July 14 SFW

I enjoy looking at the photos on these walls as much as I like looking at all of the records and in some cases, I enjoy the photos much more.  I always wonder if the photographers that made these photos ever thought how popular these images would be 50 and 60 years later.  Here is another Elvis poster …

IMG_7298 Music Pages _ RTP _ SFW

I cannot remember if this was at Graceland or at Sun Records, but it does not really matter … I think that these are OK, but what could have been created if Colonel Parker had hired a talented art designer or graphic artist to design these music sheets.  I read somewhere about how popular these music sheets where with Elvis’ audience that he sold millions of these music sheets to his fans at his concerts, in fact it was not just with Elvis but Hank Williams was the first county musician who popularized selling these music sheets at his concerts.  I have some more photos of Graceland and also of inside the studio at Sun Records that I am going to throw up ,,, and also some images I made in Clarksdale Mississippi.  Thanks for looking and please check back and all comments are appreciated … Frank
