IMG_0080 Horses and Sign_5x5_9 May 16_Watercolor_ SFW

Here are several more horse racing images that I worked-up last night.  I saw a poster in Louisville this past weekend that I really liked and thought that it added a different / interesting look to an image that was already interesting.   Taking a break from working up people photos, I thought that I would experiment with some horse-racing photos.  These filters are under the “artistic” menu in Photoshop and I have seen where the watercolor filter gives an interesting effect, so that is what I have been using.  I still have a long way to go with these and there are a lot of combinations that you can run on the image.  Here is one more …

IMG_0510 Number 12 in air_5x5_9 May 16_Oceanripple_SFW

This one is going to take more work until I can get it the way I like it.  Notice how the number “12” horse is completely in mid-air.  I hope that you enjoy these and if you have any comments, please do.  The next few posts will be from Churchhill Downs, so I hope that you enjoy horse racing!  Thanks again for looking ad as usual, all comments are appreciated ….

2016 Kentucky Derby …

IMG_0117 Paddock Area_10x10_RTP_11 May 16 _SFW

Pam and I went to the Kentucky Derby this past weekend as guests as some friends of ours.  We had a great time with 167,000 of our best friends! No, I did not get a chance to personally talk to everyone, but I tried my best.  The image above is one I made in the paddock area between races.  You are going to see a change in some of my photos … I am going to try to get a more illustrative look to them.  I saw a poster / card while in Louisville that I liked and then that little light-bulb went off … it was done in Photoshop!  That got me to thinking ( I know that is a stretch ) that a lot of average, mundane looking photographs can be turned into something interesting … as in the image above.  We will see where this leads.  A few more I worked up from Churchhill Downs …

I have a lot more that I plan on experimenting with, so bear with me.  Let me know what you think about what I have done, so please feel free to comment.  If you were in Louisville and were at Churchill Downs and what to share your experiences, I would love to hear them.  Thanks for looking and please check back.  I have been on Instagram more the past year and have ignored my blogs a little, but I plan on plugging away with them.  I have of lot of new images to post and I will in the future… Frank

IMG_0005 Surfer_Thin Crop_4 Jan 16 _ SFW

I am just going to throw up a few photos from our trip and will go into details in a later post.  We spent eight days in Oceanside, north of San Diego visiting Lauren, Travis and Lukas.  Had a great time and went all over Southern California…Los Angeles to Palm Springs to Malibu to San Diego.  I have been spending more time posting my images to Instagram and have ignored my two blogs.  You can find me on Instagram at ” frankphardy ” if you are interested.  I use it more to post the above type of images and I do put up images that I post over on my father’s photography blog that I have.  Here are a few more SoCal photos …

IMG_0004 Malibu from South_RTP_5 Jan 16 _ SFW

The surfing photo was taken at Oceanside and the sailboat image was taken coming out the harbor in Oceanside.  The above photo is the start of Malibu, which was nothing really special to me … until you get to the million dollar beach homes.  I made some photos of the homes from the beach that I will post later, all I can say is “WOW ” … not that they are huge or elaborate, just expensive.  Here are several more …

The top is Los Angeles from the Griffith Observatory and the bottom photo is a lifeguard stand at the Santa Monica Pier.  I took a lot around the pier and I will post more in the future as I work them up.  Thanks again for looking and please check back … Feel free to share your own Southern California experiences, I am interested in her what you have to say.  Thanks again … Frank

Frankie Ballard at The Pensacola Interstate Fair …

Ballard Band_5x5_26 Oct 15 _ SFW

This past Saturday night Pam and I went out to the Pensacola Interstate Fair to see Frankie Ballard.   I am by no means a concert photographer, but as I always say in this digital world that we live in today … If you can’t shoot’em good, just shoot a lot!!  And that is pretty much what I did.  I did not have access to the center aisle right in front of the stage, so I was off to the left as you look at the stage.  Not really much of a problem since Frankie and the boys move all over the stage.  As always, none of these images are straight out of the camera and all have been worked up in Photoshop.  So here we go …

I have others that I have posted to my Instagram account if you want to see more Frankie. Here is a link to my Instagram account if you are interested.  I have been posting there and have sort of neglected my blogs, only because it attracts a different audience and I have met some people that I would never have come across with my two blogs.  One major regret that taking these concert photos made me realize is that I never carried a camera to all of the concerts that I went to in the late 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.  Back in those early days you could just wander up to the foot of the stage and hang around if there was an open spot.  There was no obstacles like “security” to stop you from taking photos of your favorite band until I would say sometime in the 1980’s.  I thought about it once or twice, but never bothered lugging a camera bag around with me … now I really regret not taking my camera because I have been taking photos since junior high school.  Thanks for looking and if anyone else was there let me know what you think.  All that I can say is that my days of being ” Young and Crazy ” are long gone … Please feel free to comment and check back.  Frank

Printed Cards …

Cards_5x5_14 Oct 15 _Best _ S F I

Here are some examples of printed cards that I recently had printed from Artifact Uprising, a printing company in Denver Colorado.  The quality and service is excellent, the customer service is very personal – which is something that you do not find these days – and their turn around time is great.  I plan on sending these out  when I receive some envelopes in the next few weeks.  Here is one more image of the cards …

IMG_0015 Close Up 2 Cards _ 5x5 _ 14 Oct 15 _ S F I

Same cards, just a different grouping.  I have never had an editor or someone to help me select my images … I just select what interests me.  I plan on ordering more cards from this company to promote the images from my other blog on my father’s photography,  I thought that I would have created more interest in archives and that might lead to some sales, but that has not really materialized.  So I guess that I need to beat the drum a little louder to get some more attention.  Here is a link to Artifact Uprising, so you can see all of the great products that they create.  They do a lot more than create 5×5 cards.  Thanks again for looking and please check back … Frank

One More Reagan Photo …

Reagan at Plane 4 _ RTP _ 2 Sept 15_SFW

It clearly looks that Reagan is enjoying himself as he works the crowd in Pensacola.  Look at the little boy that is stretching his hand out to Reagan … I am sure that Reagan shook it and I bet that kid did not wash his hand for a week.  I still have a few more of these that I will post later.  If anyone has any idea who this kid is, let me know.  Just email me who you think or know it is and I will give him one of these photos for his scrapbook.  I am sure that this kid ( I called him little Johnny in an earlier post ) is upset with our Iranian Nuclear Arms ” Deal “.  Thanks again for looking and please check back … Frank

PS – If anyone recognizes any of these people in any of these Reagan photos, please let me know. Thanks … 28 Oct 15

Some More of Ronald Reagan at Pensacola Regional Airport …

Reagan at Plane 1_OK_28 Aug 15_SFW

This one looks like he is just arriving and getting ready to walk down toward the platform where, but he has already spoken and is getting ready to enter the plane and leave.  However, we won’t tell anyone.  I very seldom show full frame images, since a lot times I have the wrong lens and cannot frame the image the way that I would like to have it composed.  I do not have an issue with going back and cropping the image to cut out all of the worthless parts that really do nothing to improve the image.  Here are a few more images that have not been shown or published prior to today …

Reagan with Free Our Dip_7x5_RTP_28 Aug 15_SFW

Reagan is in the center of the bottom of the frame … how about those signs, especially the one that reads ” Free Our Diplomats “, what is that all about?  Oh, I guess you must have forgotten about the Iranians taking our diplomats hostage at the US Embassy in Tehran and holding them hostage for over 444 days. Yes, little Johnny, that is well over a year that our citizens were held hostage in Iran.  You are right again, little Johnny, our current politicians ( I am not mentioning any names here ) sure must have forgotten that episode as they negotiate with the current regime in Iran and will allow them to have nuclear materials.  And yes, little Johnny, Iran can then go and build their own nuclear bombs and yes, we are also going to give the Iranians 100 billion dollars to further their cause.  No, little Johnny, they promised that they they would not use the nuclear materials to build bombs … just like Germany signed a treaty ( The Nonaggression Pact of 1939 )  with England before World War II and Germany promised not bomb England and Russia.  And well, Germany lied to England and Russia and invaded Poland in 1939.  Yes, little Johnny, Hitler lied and broke the agreement, but we know that the Ayatollah would not do that besides our Secretary of State believes him.  No little Johnny, we do not need the 100 billion dollars that we are going to give Iran, we have enough money to help our veterans and the less fortunate and all of the illegals that come to the United States … we have enough money for everyone.  No little Johnny, there is not enough for you to go to college for free, but as smart as you are, I do not think that you need any more of an education.  I wish our leaders were as smart as little Johnny.  Enough of that … one more of Reagan –

Waving Goodbye 2 _ OK 2 _28 Aug 15 _ 5x5 _ S F I

I have more of Reagan that I have to work-up before I post and I still will post some of him speaking.  If anyone was here at the airport that day, I would like to here about your experiences.  I did not know anything about it until WCOA mentioned it around 8:00 am that morning.  It was nothing like they do now days.  Thanks for looking and please check back …Frank

PS – Please go and check me out on Instagram … FrankPHardy.  From some reason it would not allow me to use FrankHardyPhoto or FrankHardyPhotography, so I had to use my middle initial.  I have come in contact with a lot of people that I would not have from my blogs and I do not really like Facebook all of that much.  I get tired of all of the sayings and the photos of what people are eating and drinking.  Thanks again …
