Some More of Ronald Reagan at Pensacola Regional Airport …

Reagan at Plane 1_OK_28 Aug 15_SFW

This one looks like he is just arriving and getting ready to walk down toward the platform where, but he has already spoken and is getting ready to enter the plane and leave.  However, we won’t tell anyone.  I very seldom show full frame images, since a lot times I have the wrong lens and cannot frame the image the way that I would like to have it composed.  I do not have an issue with going back and cropping the image to cut out all of the worthless parts that really do nothing to improve the image.  Here are a few more images that have not been shown or published prior to today …

Reagan with Free Our Dip_7x5_RTP_28 Aug 15_SFW

Reagan is in the center of the bottom of the frame … how about those signs, especially the one that reads ” Free Our Diplomats “, what is that all about?  Oh, I guess you must have forgotten about the Iranians taking our diplomats hostage at the US Embassy in Tehran and holding them hostage for over 444 days. Yes, little Johnny, that is well over a year that our citizens were held hostage in Iran.  You are right again, little Johnny, our current politicians ( I am not mentioning any names here ) sure must have forgotten that episode as they negotiate with the current regime in Iran and will allow them to have nuclear materials.  And yes, little Johnny, Iran can then go and build their own nuclear bombs and yes, we are also going to give the Iranians 100 billion dollars to further their cause.  No, little Johnny, they promised that they they would not use the nuclear materials to build bombs … just like Germany signed a treaty ( The Nonaggression Pact of 1939 )  with England before World War II and Germany promised not bomb England and Russia.  And well, Germany lied to England and Russia and invaded Poland in 1939.  Yes, little Johnny, Hitler lied and broke the agreement, but we know that the Ayatollah would not do that besides our Secretary of State believes him.  No little Johnny, we do not need the 100 billion dollars that we are going to give Iran, we have enough money to help our veterans and the less fortunate and all of the illegals that come to the United States … we have enough money for everyone.  No little Johnny, there is not enough for you to go to college for free, but as smart as you are, I do not think that you need any more of an education.  I wish our leaders were as smart as little Johnny.  Enough of that … one more of Reagan –

Waving Goodbye 2 _ OK 2 _28 Aug 15 _ 5x5 _ S F I

I have more of Reagan that I have to work-up before I post and I still will post some of him speaking.  If anyone was here at the airport that day, I would like to here about your experiences.  I did not know anything about it until WCOA mentioned it around 8:00 am that morning.  It was nothing like they do now days.  Thanks for looking and please check back …Frank

PS – Please go and check me out on Instagram … FrankPHardy.  From some reason it would not allow me to use FrankHardyPhoto or FrankHardyPhotography, so I had to use my middle initial.  I have come in contact with a lot of people that I would not have from my blogs and I do not really like Facebook all of that much.  I get tired of all of the sayings and the photos of what people are eating and drinking.  Thanks again …

Ronald Reagan Aboard Leadership 80 …

Reagan at Plane_Image Printed_11_WIP 3_7 May 15 copy_ SFW

In September 1980, Ronald Reagan made a stop at the Pensacola Regional Airport aboard Leadership 80.   I have posted a few images earlier of Reagan speaking at the podium speaking, but I had not posted any of boarding the plane to leave.  The reason was that I could not find the negatives.  Until yesterday.  I ran across them looking for some other negatives that I had misplaced.  It is only about 25 more negatives and they are nothing earth shattering … no Pulitzer Prize winners.  However, he still became President of the United States and he was in Pensacola, so that has to amount for something.  Right?  I cleaned these two negatives up and posted them as a teaser.  I know that there are a lot of people who loved him and these show him in a good mood and  to me, very favorable.  It is going to take me a while to get them all cleaned-up and ready to post.  Here is one more of the crowd around the plane …

Crowd at Reagan Plan 1 _ RTP 2_ 7 May 15 _ SFW

I have enough images to get several posts out of all of the negatives and I hope to hear from some people that were there.  Not very many comments were received from the other post, so I am hoping that these will get a better response.  I am also going to post something on my other site and maybe that might get some more responses.  I do not believe that I did that with the other post.  It is going be a little before I get around to getting them ready to post, so please be patient.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Studio Fire 18 _ RTP _SFW

Over at the blog that I have about my father’s photography, I posted about the fire on 12th Avenue that destroyed the block that his studio was in back in 1975.  There are somewhere between 15 and 20 photos that I have collected  about the fire.  I very seldom have a post that links over to his site because I try to keep his work and mine separated.  I have a link to his site on the side bar, but a lot of people that go to either site do not relate the two.  If anyone happened to be there when 12th Avenue burned and wants to comment, please go right ahead … I am interested in all comments.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Sports Cars …

leave a comment »

Back in the early 1980’s, I had a friend that was always buying and selling sports cars, boats, etc, etc … about the only thing of his that I never photographed were planes and that is not to say that he did not have any.  I ran across this print and contact sheet when I was looking for something else.  I wish that I could put my hands on the negatives and the rest of his files, but I must have lost those when Hurricane Ivan destroyed the building that I was storing a lot of negatives and prints in. The contact sheet shows a Ferrari, Pantera  and Aston Martin out front of his house over on Pensacola Beach …

Deans Cars _ RTP _ SFW

People talk today about shooting lots of images, but I used to burn up film … I would usually shoot a roll on each sequence of images.  I processed and printed all of my film and I was fairly careful, but I could always manage to end up with dust / scratches on some of my frames.  So, I always tended to shoot more than just a frame or two on a set-up.  Next is an 8×10 of the Pantera in this photo.  Back in the the 1970’s, you could by a Pantera new from a Lincoln-Mercury dealer for a little over  ten thousand dollars.  I knew several people who had gone out to the local Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Pensacola, Astro, and purchased Panteras.  Here is one photographed out at NAS Pensacola …

If anyone wants to share their Pantera memories here, please feel free, but remember that this is a family oriented ( sort-of ) blog, so try to keep it clean.  Here is a Wikipedia link to the history of the car.  Feel free to Google ” Panteras for sale ” to see what they sell for now, but I have to warn you … you had better be sitting down when the prices pop up.  I have some more miscellaneous mess that I will be putting up in the next few days, so please check back.  Thanks for looking ,,, Frank

Holiday Inn On Pensacola Beach …

with 2 comments

IMG_3327 Holiday Inn _ Lucis _ 4x6 _ SFW

After that last snowy road image from out in Wyoming, I thought that I had better bring it all back home.  This is one of the old Holiday Inn out on Pensacola Beach.  The hotel was torn down after the damage from Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis.  I cannot remember when I made this, but it obviously was not yesterday.  I cannot tell you how many wedding receptions I photographed here, but I am sure that it was at least a hundred or more.  The food was always delicious and you sure could not beat the view when the reception was held up stairs at the Penthouse Lounge.  In this area is where the new Margaritaville Hotel is now located … not exactly in the same spot, but this is a huge piece of real estate.  It was really one of Pensacola Beach’s landmarks for many years.  Now, if I only could find some images of the Dunes Motel and Lounge ….   Thanks for looking and if you have any questions or comments, please let us hear them … Frank

IMG_2256 Skull Head Top _ RTP _ SFW

I have listed a few items on Ebay recently … trying to clear out photography equipment and other miscellaneous things that I have had lying around for years.  Here is a link for the cow’s skull above.  I have advertised it as a perfect gift for your mother-in-law.  You can go and see some of the other things on there that I have listed, everything from film to cameras to a vintage t-shirt, etc, etc, etc.  I do not have a store ( maybe in the future ) but you can click on a link and it will take you to other items that I have listed.  Here is another for a PHS 1970 yearbook …
