Pensacola Beach Images …

leave a comment »

These photos are ones that I took out at Pensacola Beach from earlier this year.  I want to say that all were taken from the Pier out on the beach.  All have been posted on my Instagram account and several have been enhanced with a program called Plotagraph which adds motion to a still image.  In the image above, I was able to add motion to the waves so that they roll in and then recede. I will try to add several here in the next few days, but in the meantime here are some surfing photos …

And finally one I titled ” Heading In “…

I have been posting mostly to my Instagram account over the past few months, but I have not totally given up on my blog and I plan to get back into regularly posting to my two blogs shortly.  You can find me on Instagram at @frankhardyphoto or you can go to the search panel and just type in Frank Hardy Photography.  Thanks for looking and if you have any questions or comments, please let me hear them.

New and Miscellaneous Work ….

I have not been posting much on these blogs since I post to Instagram.  I am at @frankphardy on Instagram for those of you that might be interested and see what I throw up on it.  I seem to attract more attention there that I have on this blog.  But I do not plan on getting rid of this blog since I have had it so long.  Here are a few new images and several that I have reworked. Enjoy …

I am sort of all over the place with these images from California to Ireland to Memphis to back to California and I started it off on Pensacola Beach.  Thanks for looking and please check back, I have some concert negatives that I have acquired from back in the 1960’s and 70’s that I plan to post in the near future.  Don’t forget to go to my Instagram feed … @frankphardy … and see my work there.  Feel free to comment and thanks for looking ….

Frankie Ballard at The Pensacola Interstate Fair …

Ballard Band_5x5_26 Oct 15 _ SFW

This past Saturday night Pam and I went out to the Pensacola Interstate Fair to see Frankie Ballard.   I am by no means a concert photographer, but as I always say in this digital world that we live in today … If you can’t shoot’em good, just shoot a lot!!  And that is pretty much what I did.  I did not have access to the center aisle right in front of the stage, so I was off to the left as you look at the stage.  Not really much of a problem since Frankie and the boys move all over the stage.  As always, none of these images are straight out of the camera and all have been worked up in Photoshop.  So here we go …

I have others that I have posted to my Instagram account if you want to see more Frankie. Here is a link to my Instagram account if you are interested.  I have been posting there and have sort of neglected my blogs, only because it attracts a different audience and I have met some people that I would never have come across with my two blogs.  One major regret that taking these concert photos made me realize is that I never carried a camera to all of the concerts that I went to in the late 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.  Back in those early days you could just wander up to the foot of the stage and hang around if there was an open spot.  There was no obstacles like “security” to stop you from taking photos of your favorite band until I would say sometime in the 1980’s.  I thought about it once or twice, but never bothered lugging a camera bag around with me … now I really regret not taking my camera because I have been taking photos since junior high school.  Thanks for looking and if anyone else was there let me know what you think.  All that I can say is that my days of being ” Young and Crazy ” are long gone … Please feel free to comment and check back.  Frank

A Few More From Pensacola Beach This Past Week …

IMG_1974 Pano From Red Fish Blue Fish_RTP_28 Sept 15 _SFW

The above panorama is from a restaurant out on Pensacola Beach – Red Fish Blue Fish – that we had lunch at this past Friday.  The food, service and the food were great and we really enjoyed ourselves.  You look out over the Sound and the place is all open, which I like.  All of these photos, by the way, were taken with my iPhone.  However, they were worked up in Photoshop before I posted them.  On my previous post, I included a panorama that I had taken from our room on the fourth floor at the Hilton located right on the Gulf … it does not get much better than this!  This is an image that Jenna had taken on her iPhone of three Coast Guard helicopters hovering out of the Gulf in front of the Hilton.  You do not really get to see much, but you can make out the helicopters hovering over the Gulf by the rotor wash on the water …

Now, here are a several of Payton and one of Jenna and Payton down at Joe Patti’s Seafood.  The first is Payton with a iPhone playing games, which is what she seems to be doing 75% of the time these days …

The last is just one taken off of the balcony looking at the beach … nothing great, but pretty.

The View from the Hilton on Pensacola Beach …

IMG_1993

This is a panorama taken on my iPhone from the fourth floor at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach this past Friday September 25, 2015.  I could not get over how many chairs and umbrellas were set out on the beach with hardly anyone there.  Maybe they knew something that I didn’t, but I am surprised at how deserted the beach is this time of year.  I realize that school is back in session, but with the rates going down after Labor Day, you would think that the beach could draw more of a crowd.  And I know that it is not for lack of trying with all of the money spent on ads by the different hotels, restaurants, chambers of commerce, etc, etc.  Well, it was nice while it lasted because the weather is going to be bad starting Monday.  I have not lost interest in my two blogs over the last several months … I have been posting to my Instagram account and have come across a lot of people that I would not have reached on my blogs.  I am busy with some other things and do not have much ready to post.  In the next few weeks I will have some new stuff to post that I hope will be of interest.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Holiday Inn On Pensacola Beach …

IMG_3327 Holiday Inn _ Lucis _ 4x6 _ SFW

After that last snowy road image from out in Wyoming, I thought that I had better bring it all back home.  This is one of the old Holiday Inn out on Pensacola Beach.  The hotel was torn down after the damage from Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis.  I cannot remember when I made this, but it obviously was not yesterday.  I cannot tell you how many wedding receptions I photographed here, but I am sure that it was at least a hundred or more.  The food was always delicious and you sure could not beat the view when the reception was held up stairs at the Penthouse Lounge.  In this area is where the new Margaritaville Hotel is now located … not exactly in the same spot, but this is a huge piece of real estate.  It was really one of Pensacola Beach’s landmarks for many years.  Now, if I only could find some images of the Dunes Motel and Lounge ….   Thanks for looking and if you have any questions or comments, please let us hear them … Frank

Goodbye Summer …

IMG_6170 Number 2 _ RTP _ SFW

I maybe should have put a blue border around this image to separate the white sand in the foreground from the white background on the blog’s… I still might, but I thought that I would go ahead and post this image.   There might still be a few weeks of ” summer ” left, however you better run out and enjoy it while you can.  I call this image ” Number Two ” obviously and it is just a grab shot with an iPhone.  And yes, there is a good bit of Photoshop involved in the creation of this image plus I still might do several other things to the image.  Once winter gets here, it is going to be a while before you see old number 2  out on the beach… maybe in three months or so and then the SRIA will drag it out of storage  At least we are not up in the far north and having to look at being inside for 4 or 5 months … Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

NOTE:  I did not take the photo above … Jenna Adams made the photo, all I did was the Photoshop work on the image.
