Mardi Gras Mask 2_6 Feb 15_RTP 2 _ SFW

Mardi Gras still-life shot back in the 1980’s on black plexiglas.  I might have to go and find me another sheet in the future, I have no idea where this one vanished.  I went and spent a week in Chicago at the PPoA’s headquarters back then in Des Plains with catalog photographer Andrew Foster from Atlanta back in the Eighties. The big rage back then was using black plexiglas for product shots.  When I got back, I went and purchased a 3 x 4 foot sheet.  It was like $200 back then.  I got my monies worth out of it because no one else in my area was using it, then every photographer went out and purchased a sheet and that was the end of that, sort of.  A lot of them had a hard time using it because they used direct lighting and the secret is using bounced lighting … I would bounce my strobes off of various sizes of white cardboard for whatever effect I was trying to achieve. You can see how the lighting in the image above is round and not flat, since I made  about a 10″ round white cardboard reflector to bounce my single strobe-light off of.  Well, that is your photo lesson for today.  Thanks for looking, and as usual, all comments are welcomed and appreciated … Frank
