A Few More Scenic Images …

IMG_9686 Home in Snow 1 _ RTP _ BW 2 _ SFW

Doesn’t this just want to make you move to South Dakota?  Not me … even though it looks like it might be fun for a few days.  Notice the animals way in the distance.  At least if they get out, it is not like they are going to get out on the highway and get hit or cause a wreck.  Next is one more of an old house in Charleston.  This was down several blocks from where we were staying … I still have a lot of variations of this place …

I very seldom use frames on my images and I have a accumulated a lot of them, along with textures, I have been seeing what I can come up that adds something a little different to these images.  The first image was taken by my friend Bud Lovoy and I made the second.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

Holiday Inn On Pensacola Beach …

IMG_3327 Holiday Inn _ Lucis _ 4x6 _ SFW

After that last snowy road image from out in Wyoming, I thought that I had better bring it all back home.  This is one of the old Holiday Inn out on Pensacola Beach.  The hotel was torn down after the damage from Hurricanes Ivan and Dennis.  I cannot remember when I made this, but it obviously was not yesterday.  I cannot tell you how many wedding receptions I photographed here, but I am sure that it was at least a hundred or more.  The food was always delicious and you sure could not beat the view when the reception was held up stairs at the Penthouse Lounge.  In this area is where the new Margaritaville Hotel is now located … not exactly in the same spot, but this is a huge piece of real estate.  It was really one of Pensacola Beach’s landmarks for many years.  Now, if I only could find some images of the Dunes Motel and Lounge ….   Thanks for looking and if you have any questions or comments, please let us hear them … Frank

The Lonely Road Home …

IMG_9441 Lonely Road _ RTP _ 14 Feb 15 _ SFW

I could not decide if I should call this ” Aren’t You Glad That You Live In Florida ” or ” The Lonely Road Home ” and I decided on the lonely road theme.  Notice how the ice on the windshield really makes the photo, otherwise it would just be some out of focus car lights on a miserable road out in the middle of no where.  The lights were smaller and I enlarged them so they would be more interesting.  I believe this was Wyoming, not exactly sure.  I have some more from Spain that I am going to post in the next day or so.  Thanks for looking and let me know what you think …. Some More From Spain …

Country Side Spain _ RTP _ 12 Feb 15 _ SFW Logo

These are from a trip my father and I took to Spain in 1972.  I am not sure of where this Spanish country-side is … maybe near Ronda only because it is hilly.  Here is a favorite of mine … the boy from out in the fields with his freshly cut hay that he did by hand.  Nice kid, I wonder where he is forty-three years later?

I have hundreds of these negatives that I ran across recently and I have been culling through to see what is in there.  I posted some others over on the site that I have for my father’s photography the other day that you might be interested in.  Here is a link to the post about Spain and Morocco over at the other blog.  I hope you enjoy these and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask and I will do what I can to go back into the old memory files and see what I can come up with.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank

IMG_2256 Skull Head Top _ RTP _ SFW

I have listed a few items on Ebay recently … trying to clear out photography equipment and other miscellaneous things that I have had lying around for years.  Here is a link for the cow’s skull above.  I have advertised it as a perfect gift for your mother-in-law.  You can go and see some of the other things on there that I have listed, everything from film to cameras to a vintage t-shirt, etc, etc, etc.  I do not have a store ( maybe in the future ) but you can click on a link and it will take you to other items that I have listed.  Here is another for a PHS 1970 yearbook …

I did not post a link because to can access from my cow head link.  If you have any questions, please ask.  If you buy the cow’s head skull and give it to your mother-in-law for Valentines, you can thank me later … As usual, all comments are appreciated – Frank

Happy Mardi Gras 2015 …

Mardi Gras Mask 2_6 Feb 15_RTP 2 _ SFW

Mardi Gras still-life shot back in the 1980’s on black plexiglas.  I might have to go and find me another sheet in the future, I have no idea where this one vanished.  I went and spent a week in Chicago at the PPoA’s headquarters back then in Des Plains with catalog photographer Andrew Foster from Atlanta back in the Eighties. The big rage back then was using black plexiglas for product shots.  When I got back, I went and purchased a 3 x 4 foot sheet.  It was like $200 back then.  I got my monies worth out of it because no one else in my area was using it, then every photographer went out and purchased a sheet and that was the end of that, sort of.  A lot of them had a hard time using it because they used direct lighting and the secret is using bounced lighting … I would bounce my strobes off of various sizes of white cardboard for whatever effect I was trying to achieve. You can see how the lighting in the image above is round and not flat, since I made  about a 10″ round white cardboard reflector to bounce my single strobe-light off of.  Well, that is your photo lesson for today.  Thanks for looking, and as usual, all comments are welcomed and appreciated … Frank

Skating at Avalon in Alpharetta and Charleston …

IMG_0973 Payton On Ice 1 _ RTP _ Best _ SFW 2 _ Logo

Here is Payton on her first ice skating experience at Avalon in Alpharetta Georgia.  This is an outdoor skating rink and it is nice!  I do not know what they are going to do when it gets summer, but it is HOT in Georgia in August.  However in December, it is nice and the setting is gorgeous.  I turned around and took a photo of the the Christmas shoppers and decorations …

Those are apartments or condos above the stores on street-level.  I guess that there is a whole group of people who cannot get enough shopping and have to live where they  shop.  It sure beats all that I have seen, well maybe not, but if someone ran this idea by me I sure would say that I could not imagine anyone wanting to live in the middle of a shopping mall complex with thousands of people running around.  Next is one that I made in Charleston of a church steeple … it is not going to win any awards, but it is an interesting image …

I am going to do something else with this, but I have not thought that far ahead yet.  Thanks for looking and please check back … Frank
