2014 Baccalaureate Mass For Pensacola Catholic High School …
Here are some random images that I had taken at St Paul’s Catholic Church during the Baccalaureate Mass for the 2014 Graduates of Pensacola Catholic High School. Just to break up all of these images, I will have a separate post for the Graduation Ceremony in a few days. Since they are pretty much self-explanatory, I won’t bother to comment. Aren’t you glad? ….
I think that these give you a pretty good idea of the event. Aren’t these some nice looking graduates? Where has all of the years gone? It just seems like yesterday that they were just starting first grade. Thanks for looking and if you have any comments or suggestions, please let me hear them. I will post the graduation photos shortly … Frank
California Dreaming …
In an effort to try new techniques and stay fresh, I have been going back through some of my old black and white images and reworking them into some new pieces to show. This is by no means the final image and I am sure that I will change it a half a dozen times before I find something that I like. However, since I have not posted much lately, I thought that I would throw this up and see if I get any comments. I have seen this ” posterized ” effect used in Photoshop, but never bothered to try anything with it. I have so many b&w images that I have scanned through the years, I thought that I would see what I could come up with. Stay tuned and please check back … Frank
PS – This image was taken just south of San Francisco back in 2000. We were driving down to Monterrey and had just turned on the Pacific Highway or whatever the road is called that skirts the Pacific Ocean. We just came upon this parking lot and there were all of these surfers out in the water. Shot with a Hasselblad and 50mm lens on TMAX 100 film. I must have shot 20 rolls TMAX and have posted a lot of them already.
Stanley Marsh 3 … RIP
Stanley Marsh 3 died this past week. He was the man who created ” The Cadillac Ranch ” along I-40 outside of Amarillo Texas. I made the above back in 2003 on a trip Pam and I took to Sedona Arizona. We had driven out on I-10 and I said that there was no way that I was going back the same way. You would drive for miles and miles and miles and there would be absolutely nothing out your windows but flat land. So when we left Sedona, we drove north to I-40 and headed east. The view was a little better and there were some places along the way that we stopped … but those are for another time. Pam spotted the Cadillacs and said that we just passed a row of cars buried nose down out in a field. I turned around and went back. It had rained and the field was muddy and the cars are buried several hundred yards from the service road. She had no interest in walking out in the mud, so I grabbed my cameras and headed out. I will have to find the original files and post them to give you an idea what I started with. This is the first image that really showed me what you could create in Photoshop and how creative and powerful the program is. Here is a link to Marsh’s obituary in the Amarillo paper and the guy lead an interesting life. His last few years were filled with controversy, but I guess that is another story, also. Thanks for looking and I have some other posts ready to put up and I will over the next few days … Thanks for looking … Frank
Sunsets of 30A …
I submitted a sunset that I had taken several years ago that I had taken down at Rosemary Beach on 30A. It was included in this very nice coffee table by Cindy Moskovitz that was published recently. Here is a link to the press release and you may also purchase a copy from this site. If you have ever been down to 30A and spent any time, I am sure that you will see something that will interest you. Here is a copy of my image that was published …
I want to thank Cindy for including me in her publication … it is an honor to have my work shown along some very spectacular images and I have already received some very nice comments from people that have seen the book. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions or comments, please let me hear them. I have been busy and neglected my blog, but I have several ready to post. So please check back and thanks again for looking … Frank
