Pebble Beach 4 _ SFW_21 Dec 12

One more from my files.  This is another from the trip we took to San Francisco back in 2000.  This is before I went digital, so this is from a 120 b&w negative scan.  This is looking out over the Pacific by the Pebble Beach Country Club on the Seventeen Mile Drive loop that is one of the prettiest drive that you will ever take.  When we were standing at this park where this view is located, I looked around and out of a crowd of two busloads full of people, Pam and I were only people speaking English … everyone else was Japanese!  Or what sounded like Japanese to me.  The world is truly getting smaller … Thanks for looking.  Frank

Irish Church Cross … Update 1_3_13

5x5 Church Steeple Composite II_21 Dec 12 SFW

This is a cross a top a church in Dingle Ireland.  I am not sure what type of church this cross is on top of and I am going to do some research to find out.  With the Google Earth program, it should not be too much of a problem.  I have been trying to organize all of these images that I have accumulated over the past thirty-five years or so, but I still have a long, long way to go.  Thanks for looking … Frank

UPDATE:  I went on Google Earth and found this church in Dingle Ireland … St. Mary’s is the name of the church and it is located on Green Street in Dingle.  It is across the street from ” Dick Mack’s Pub ” .  I have an image somewhere of the pub and I will have to post it later.  I am sorry that I do not know the denomination of the church, might be Episcopalian or maybe Anglican, I do not believe that it is Catholic.   I bought a watercolor of this Green Street and this church is at the end of the street.  I will try to scan the print and post it in the future.

1979 Corvette …

Corvette 79_12_12_12 SFW

This was the first Corvette that I ever owned.  I ordered it from Bob Salter Chevrolet … black with red leather interior.  Brand new, the sticker price was … $12,900.  However, back then a new Pontiac Firebird was around $6,000 – LOADED!  With tax, tag and delivery I do not think that the total came to $14,000.  And if it did it was not much over it.  Now, I bet you could not by a stripped down Corvette for less than $40, 000 … that is just a guess because I have not been pricing cars for years.  I put 100,000 miles on this car is three years, traded it in on another Corvette … 1982 model, but that is another story and another post.  I will hunt down a photo of it and post it later.  Thanks for looking … Frank

Ground Zero, Clarksdale Mississippi …

Ground Zero 2 _ RTP _SFW FHP

This is a bar owned by the actor Morgan Freeman in Clarksdale Mississippi.  Yes, it is a dive and no, I would not call it a honky tonk, close though.  A true honky tonk is a lot dirtier and nastier … that is what I heard, anyway.  I have been going through the thousands of b&w negatives that I have shot over the last 35 or so years and started to scan  some from different trips / jobs.  There is a photographer named Burney Imes that produced a book called ” Honky Tonks ” and it is a favorite of mine.  I personally do not have the book, but I do have several framed posters of his in my darkroom and I look at them for inspiration all the time.  In his photos, you can almost picture Robert Johnson stumbling up with his guitar case in hand and wanting a shot of whiskey.  The only thing my photo above is missing is a bunch of drunk college students from Ole Miss.  Thanks for looking and let me know what you think … Frank
