Pensacola Catholic High School Football Game on September 28, 2012 …

This past Friday night, September 28, Pensacola Catholic High School played Navarre and suffered their first loss of the year.  At halftime, the CHS Baseball team received their 2012 Championship Rings … So I went to take some photos of the ceremony and since I was there, made some photos of the game.  I never have professed to be a sport’s photographer … you have to be really lucky and you have to be in the right place at the right time.  Never seeming to be lucky and hardly ever am I at the right place at the right time, I feel that some of these football ball shots are not too bad.  I know that Sports Illustrated will never be calling, but I still enjoy capturing the action.  As usual, I do not know the players involved, well I do know that the quarterback is Cody Henry, but that is basically it, so I apologize in advance for not knowing the names of the runners or receivers.   I hope you enjoy a few of these …

It is hard to believe that CHS was held scoreless in this game against Navarre High School with action like this.  I hope you enjoyed the few that I posted here … now the Championship Ring Ceremony at half-time.  First up is Sister at the microphone and then Coach LaBounty offering a few words …

I thought that I would include one of just the table with the rings and the Florida State High School 4A Sport Trophy ( I am not sure of the exact title of the trophy, so I just called it that ).  The the players and their rings …

This is Coach LaBounty’s son Drew showing off his Championship Ring.  I hope that Drew does not mind me posting this photo … It is not everyday that you have a ” State Champion ” in your presence.  The whole team is just a great group of “Winners” and the entire coaching staff at Pensacola Catholic High School sure does an outstanding job with all of the kids that play all sports at CHS along with the Baseball Coaches.

Well, that is it for now.  I hope everyone enjoys this post … it is sort of different for me.  Usually I just put up one or two photos and write a few words just so I keep my name out there in the public eye.  If anyone has any comments, please feel free to post them … I am interested in what people think and have to say. Oh yea, if anyone knows someone at Sports Illustrated, please give them a “heads-up” to let them know what they are missing down here in the panhandle of Florida.  Thanks for looking … Frank

Pensacola Catholic High vs PHS Football Game …

with 2 comments

Here are a few from this past Friday night’s football game between CHS and PHS.  A close, hard-fought game with CHS winning 17-15 over Pensacola High School.  I am not much of a sports photographer, but I like to take my camera and see what I can get … the old saying holds true for me in sports photography – ” if you cannot shoot’em good, shoot a lot! “.
All I can say to that is amen brother …  A few more of the crowd, the cheerleaders and the dancers …

Most of my football photos were not that sharp and had a lot of movement or they were not in focus, but my crowd photos are passable.  I doubt that I will have Sports Illustrated calling me anytime soon, but I enjoyed the game and had a nice time, and that is what it all is about, isn’t it?  I will leave you with a few more crowd shots.  Let me know what you think … Thanks for looking, Frank …

I wonder if they are allowed to show up for school looking like this?  Thanks again …

Space Station … Pensacola Beach ?

with 2 comments

This is a view of the 360 Observation Wheel out on Pensacola Beach, even though it looks as if it could be part of the Space Lab somewhere above earth or where ever.   Here are a couple more …

If you are out on the beach and have nothing to do, it is worth the $15 for several spins on the wheel.  Pam even enjoyed it and she is not one much for heights.  Thanks for looking and ” Beam me up, Scotty ” … Frank

Black and White Images …

Above is an image I made out in Arizona back in 2003 on a trip to Sedona.  Even though I went digital back in 2002, I have still carried along a Hasselblad with a 50mm lens and 20 rolls or so of b&w film to burn up.  Most all images are hand-held and I just compose as I walk along, nothing too serious …just walking, talking and shooting.  Sometimes I do not process the film until six months or a year later.  All I am really doing is creating a visual notebook with film … most of these images I do not bother to print, some I do.  And when I do print them, I usually do not print them any larger than 5×5.  Below is another image from this Indian Reservation …

Here is one more from the same place …

I had hoped to photograph some Indians, but since they were all dressed in “civilian” cloths, they looked like anyone you would see at the mall or walking down Main Street.  Nothing wrong with that, so please do not misunderstand my comment, I realize that it might sound right.  The next one is from a trip to San Francisco back in 2000 …

This is Highway 1, south of San Francisco and this is the Bixby Bridge.  You see it in car commercials all the time, in fact I can remember a Chevrolet commercial on TV several years ago shot on this bridge from a helicopter.  Like I said earlier, I have literally thousands of these negatives from the last 35 years or so and I have been scanning a few here and there.  I always keep saying that I need to organize and catalog all of them sometime, but I never seem to do it … maybe I will start tomorrow …

One more thing, I would like to thank everyone at the Pensacola New Journal for the article they did on the blog that I have been doing on my father’s photography back on Sunday, August 19, 2012.  Troy Moon did and excellent job of writing the article, like I told him … I see a Pulitzer Prize in his future someday and the very talented photo-journalist Katie King made some great photographs for the article.  I do not know if the article is archived, but here is a link to a photo gallery that they created with some of the photos I let them use.  Thanks again … Frank
