Alcatraz …
When Pam and I went to San Francisco, we took the ferry to Alcatraz. It was not what I had expected it to be … it was run down and old. Now I know that it was a prison and it was built back in the early part of the 1900’s and it had not been occupied in almost 40 years, but I thought it would have been larger or something. The building holding the cells is interesting to tour and to explore. Seeing and hearing the guards stories was very interesting. The most enjoyable part was the ferry ride out to the island … being out in the bay and seeing the Golden Gate Bridge was the highlight of this trip for me. The above photo is a shot of the guard’s house and tower … the three trees make the photo to me. You can find symbolism of the three crosses, but I did not think that when I snapped the shutter. They just added a few elements to the overall composition. Also, the sky adds a bit of suspense to an otherwise depressing image. I have never seen a view of Alcatraz like this above anywhere, so I hope you enjoy it and all comments are welcomed.
